Grey Heron, Nether Edge by Member Edwyn Anderton 4 April 2010

The group was formed in April 2004 by the current chairman Howard Trott as the Nether Edge Wildlife Watch, with the simple aim of getting together to  share information about the wildlife observed in our own back gardens and parks. In a way it was a revival of a small but very active ecology group led some years previously by local conservationist Marian Tylecote.

The new group, in 2009 renamed the Nether Edge Wildlife Group (to avoid confusion with Wildlife Watch, the title of the junior section of the Wildlife Trust), has grown steadily and now has around sixty-five members, most of whom take part in guided local walks and visits to nature reserves, attend indoor meetings through the winter months or have been involved in local clear-ups, wildflower and spring bulb plantings in the Nether Edge Conservation Area.

Our overall aim is to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of preserving the rich variety of local wildlife against ever-increasing threats to habitats and the environment in general.

For more information about organised events, please see the events page, and if you have any news, sightings of wildlife or general comments about us or the website, or wish to join the Group, please go to the contact page and get in touch!
